Bring Your Best Questions

Located in a spacious valley which the Spanish named "La Cañada de los Osos" - meaning Valley of the Bears - Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa still stands on its original location. Founded in 1772, docents enjoy this San Luis Obispo attraction and share their love and knowledge of the old mission. Most days at 1:15 pm, a guided tour begins at the Mission Plaza doors in front of the gift shop. On Sundays, tours begin at 2 pm. Here you'll learn how the Mission was built over many years, who is buried in the floors and walls of the church, and the story behind historic art that still hangs from the adobe walls.

Located just 1 mile from The Kinney SLO, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa also has an excellent museum with a special section dedicated to the Chumash Indians. Its plaza is the place for popular things to do in San Luis Obispo and other community events, such as family-friendly concerts in the summer.
